Background and Brief

Sustainable.co.za is an industry leader in South Africa for the sale of sustainable goods to the average person looking to install eco-friendly products in their homes or offices in order to reduce their environmental carbon footprint.

At the time of signing up with MediaVision, Sustainable.co.za had already established itself as a leading provider of eco-friendly and sustainable energy products in southern Africa. Where Sustainable.co.za was falling short was that their website presence, revenue and amount of traffic did not reflect their industry leading status.

The brief from Sustainable.co.za was to increase quality traffic to the site, as their status of being South Africa's number one eco-store was not reflected online. There were many lower quality stores dominating the search landscape and this needed to be reversed in order to make a bigger impact on the general population in the face of spiraling energy costs.
 

Strategy

MediaVision started formulating their strategy by researching the search behavior within Southern Africa and highlighting the opportunity clearly. The previous website's conversion rate was analyzed, as the traffic generated had little bearing on the sales generated through the site. This was seen as a major stumbling block.

This opportunity was then mapped back to the website, ensuring that the onsite optimization was the best in the market. An improvement to the onsite content and structure as well as online PR strategies was then deployed with almost instant success.
Changes were also made to the existing Paid Search campaign to increase the overall quality score for campaigns, reduced the cost per visit which in turn increased the overall traffic from PPC.
 

Results

Improvement to Monthly Revenue after 12 Months of Implementation:

MediaVision not only increased the amount of quality traffic to the Sustainable.co.za website by over 1000% over the course of 12 months, but also implemented conversion analysis and strategies which have resulted in an increase of over 1638% in revenue when comparing June 2009 to June 2010.

MediaVision's conversion analysis involved identifying key pages with a high bounce rate, optimizing these pages and identifying ways in which to optimize other individual pages for top conversion rates. In addition to this MediaVision was able to apply their knowledge of e-commerce websites and the necessary tools and implementations for maximum conversion, and implement numerous changes to both the site's content and design.
