Case Study

From a small, iconic shoe label to a global fashion brand synonymous with the best of British design, Hobbs delivers exquisite craftsmanship and luxurious design to the modern woman.

The Brief:

Hobbs appointed MediaVision in October 2014 to deliver on their SEO targets. We were given an initial target to improve non-brand traffic by an ambitious 30% over a seasonality adjusted baseline in January. Given the tight time frame, we needed to deliver well and quickly to ensure we could meet that target.

The Results:

4 Months in, we delivered exceptional growth of 85% non-brand traffic and 91% revenue growth.

10 Months later – 161% Increase in non brand organic traffic & non brand revenue increased by 228%.

  • 85%
Increase in non-brand organic traffic in only 4 months
  • 91%
Increase in non-brand revenue in only 4 months
  • 161%
Growth in non-brand organic traffic in 10 months
  • 228%
Growth in non-brand revenue in 10 months

The Details:

We started with extensive research of all search trends in their product sectors and while benchmarking performance we uncovered that Hobbs only ranked for 12% of the target search phrases. A great deal of work was clearly needed to deliver that target.

Reviewing the tech architecture uncovered many opportunities and we worked very closely with the development agency involved, DesignUK, to maximise existing platform capabilities while road mapping other compliancy changes bearing in mind peak was approaching rapidly and all tech changes needed to be prioritised in line with several other projects.

The extensive analysis work was completed within a very tight 4 week deadline in order to implement changes quickly enough to drive improved traffic over the initial target period.

We then worked closely with the Hobbs e-commerce team to optimise everything that we possibly could in the time frame delivering and implementing a new landing page strategy within 12 weeks of being appointed.

While the onsite aspects were being delivered we executed a digital PR campaign where we implemented a multi-layer campaign that focused on both bloggers and mainstream press to deliver outstanding link growth to key pages. We delivered great links across a number of key domains including: The Telegraph, Marie Claire, Glamour, Stylist, Grazia and MSN Fashion.

The Results

4 months into the campaign we had delivered exceptional growth of 85% non-brand traffic and 91% revenue growth, after taking into account seasonality, which greatly surpassed the initial target given. Both teams however were not happy to rest on any laurels and reset our goals even more ambitiously for the rest of the year.

10 months on we have improved ranking visibility by 300%, non-brand organic traffic by 161% over the seasonal baseline with non-brand revenue increasing by 228%.

Testimonials:

“We have worked closely with the MediaVision team on our SEO campaigns for nearly a year now and have seen our non-brand organic traffic increase by 161%.

MediaVision have impressed us with their knowledge, strategic thinking and level of service which is unparalleled. Most importantly though for us, as a brand and e-commerce team, was the need for an SEO agency to integrate not only with our team and supply best practice advice but to integrate with our development agency. This close working relationship between SEO agency, dev agency and business owner has been the difference between the delivery of good results and the delivery of great results.

Consequently, MediaVision’s ability to fulfil this need in conjunction with their creativity and dedication has not only surpassed our expectations but it has also turned around and is re-establishing our organic presence in the fiercely competitive women’s fashion landscape. They are a fantastic team and we are looking forward to seeing how we can improve results yet further in the future”
