- Louis Venter is the CEO and co-founder of MVI.
Home Louis
He has a passion for being a good dad to his 4 kids, loves roller coasters, is a half decent golfer, loves his guitar and is a terrible kitelandboarder. He says it`s because, “at around 6 foot 2 I tend to break when I hit the ground!” He occasionally paddles to work on his Canadian canoe with Thomas, the other co-founder of MVI. They have fallen into the Thames once or twice. No news on any mutations as yet.
Work Louis
Louis` passion with IT began at the University of Cape Town where he majored in Information Systems. With his sound knowledge of systems design and development he started a web development company in Cape Town which was later bought out by Strobe Communications, a major publishing company at the time.
After moving to London he launched the video conversion and DVD authoring side of the business to support his young family. Louis soon saw the value of performing well in natural search. “With no money for marketing the business and some great advice from some close friends involved in search marketing, I jumped into organic search with both feet. Once the business began to thrive on organic search alone I saw the true opportunity for MVI.”
He has also written a paid search engine in c#. “Developing Searchbidz.com gave me a unique insight of the thought processes and key questions any paid search engine needs to address. Enhancements like quality score are the first step to maximize relevance of ads and an important step in the paid search evolution.”
His true value to MVI is finding solutions to challenges that our clients are presented with. “You have to understand all the key areas involved. You need to gain respect from the development team and be able to contribute to a marketing discussion. There is no point identifying the problems with a particular website. You need to create solutions that will address the issues while being flexible. Without sound knowledge of the technical elements the solution will never reach it`s full potential.”
Louis has a healthy skepticism of any company who adopts the “black box” approach to SEO. “Any company that isn`t transparent about optimising your website isn`t worth dealing with. The technical elements of natural search optimization aren`t a closely guarded secret, it`s the amount of each element needed to succeed that`s the art. You can get all paint in the world but that`s no guarantee of painting a Picasso. That`s the true value of a specialist marketing company.”
